NDP EMS OPENS EMT TRAINING REGISTRATION FOR ASPIRING EMTS OF ALL AGES AND CAREER STAGES, INCLUDING HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE-AGE STUDENTS
Dutchess County and Columbia County, NY and Litchfield County, CT: NDP EMS announced today that it has opened registration for its EMT training. The training, which will take place at Bard College, will start on Tuesday, September 27th and will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm and some Saturdays from 8-11am, through Thursday, February 16th. A practical exam is scheduled for Saturday, February 4th. Upon passing the practical exam and completing the course with NDP EMS, students will be eligible to sit for the New York State written exam and, upon passing that exam as well, will gain designation as a certified EMT in New York State, eligible to work in that role immediately.
“This is a professional path that is deeply fulfilling, and we look forward to meeting this next cohort of aspiring EMTs on or before the EMT training start date of September 27th. In addition, we will welcome anyone already in the field who needs recertification,” said Mark Browne, Paramedic, President and Chief Operating Officer at NDP EMS.
Added Cheryl Hilbrandt, EMT, who coordinates all training and education at NDP EMS, along with serving as an instructor for the EMT training program: “Our training is comprehensive, interactive, and just a great opportunity for people of all ages to get started on a career that allows them to make a real difference in the lives of others. It is deeply rewarding to be part of this field, and in addition, these roles come with great benefits and a chance to work with terrific people. I am excited about helping this next group develop the skills and knowledge needed for their EMT certification, and also look forward to spending time with folks who will join us for recertification.”
The cost of the NDP EMS EMT training program is $700 per person (plus textbook and online testing fees); Hilbrandt noted that New York State covers those fees for registrants who are sponsored by a New York State certified EMS agency.
“And just two weeks prior to the EMT training start date, NDP EMS will be hosting a career open house event - on Wednesday, 9/14 from 6-8pm at our Rhinebeck headquarters (3 Hook Road). The career open house will be a good way to learn more about this line of work. Even if you only have 20 minutes or so to stop in that evening, we encourage anyone who is curious to do so!” said Hilbrandt.
Said Ed Murray, CEO of NDP EMS, “NDP’s Career Open House event on September 14th will be a nice opportunity for anyone even considering this field to stop by, talk with some of our dedicated team members about their work, and experience demonstrations and tours. We are especially hopeful that high school and college-age students who really want to work in a helping profession will join us that evening to explore the possibilities. And if they like what they see and hear - then they can sign up for the EMT training that starts two weeks later on September 27th. And because the EMT training will run just two evenings a week and some Saturday mornings, it is very feasible for those who are still in school or working full-time to participate. Think about it - within 5 short months, these EMT trainees can start a very gratifying career filled with opportunity. It’s exciting to think about launching them through our NDP EMS training program.”
Pre-registration for the EMT training program is required, and space is limited.
